According to Clerk of Court Susan Gasperini, the following cases were tried in Patrick County Circuit Court during April:
• Brian Keith Blankenship, Patrick Springs, charged with malicious wounding, convicted of unlawful wounding, sentenced to five years in prison with all time suspended except one year, assessed costs and restitution; charged with threatening to burn property, convicted of disorderly conduct, sentenced to 12 months in jail with all time suspended except four months, assessed costs; convicted of probation violation, court revoked eight months of previously suspended sentence and assessed costs.
• Richard W. Blankenship, Patrick Springs, charged with unlawful wounding, convicted of assault and battery on a family member, sentenced to 12 months in jail, suspended, assessed costs.
• Emory Fritz Bearden, Woodlawn, convicted of brandishing a firearm, sentenced to 10 months in jail, suspended, fined $250 and costs.
• Frank Moore, Stuart, charged with sexual battery, convicted of assault and battery, sentenced to 12 months in jail with seven months and 28 days to serve, remainder suspended, assessed costs.
• Rodney James Milligan, Stuart, charged with utility service fraud, convicted of disorderly conduct, sentenced to 90 days in jail, suspended, assessed costs and restitution.
• Irvin Roger Craig Jr., Bassett, convicted of petit larceny, third or subsequent offense, sentenced to five years in prison, suspended, assessed costs; convicted of statutory burglary, sentenced to five years in prison with all time suspended except one year and six months, assessed costs.
• Bruce Alan Frost, Bassett, convicted of statutory burglary, sentenced to five years in prison with all time suspended except two years, assessed costs; convicted of petit larceny, third or subsequent offense, sentenced to five years in prison, suspended, assessed costs.
• Michael Daniel Healy, Stuart, charged with perjury, convicted of giving a false report to a law enforcement officer, sentenced to 12 months in jail with all time suspended except one day, assessed costs.
• James Douglas Hoback III, Critz, convicted of petit larceny, sentenced to 12 months in jail with all time suspended except four months, assessed costs.
• Mindy Medina, Ridgeway, convicted of assault and battery, sentenced to 30 days in jail, suspended, fined $200 and costs.
• Sarah Rose Branch, Patrick Springs, charged with failure to appear in court, found not guilty; convicted of probation violation, court revoked two years of previously suspended sentence, assessed costs.
• Bryant Gregory Bowman, Stuart, convicted of failure to appear in court, sentenced to 10 days in jail and assessed costs; convicted of probation violation, court revoked two years of previously suspended sentence, assessed costs.
• Jerleane Poindexter Bowman, Mount Airy, N.C., convicted of driving under the influence, first offense, sentenced to 30 days in jail, suspended, fined $650 with $350 suspended, operator’s license revoked for 12 months, assessed costs; convicted of driving without a license, fined $100 and costs; convicted of hit and run, sentenced to five years in prison with all time suspended except one year and three months, operator’s license revoked indefinitely, assessed costs and restitution; convicted of failure to obey a highway sign, fined $100 and costs.
• Clinton Lewis Haley, Stuart, convicted of probation violation, court revoked 30 days of previously suspended sentence, assessed costs.
• Christopher Wayne Johnson, Cana, charged with failure to appear, case dismissed.
• Robert Douglas Sharp, Fieldale, convicted of driving under the influence, first offense, sentenced to 30 days in jail, suspended, fined $650 to be suspended on condition he successfully complete the Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP), operator’s license revoked one year, assessed costs; charged with failure to appear in court, found not guilty.
• Dwayne A. Street, Bassett, convicted of probation violation, court resuspended all time on condition he successfully complete the diversion center program, assessed costs.
• James Timothy Wade, Patrick Springs, convicted of using abusive language, fined $250 and costs.
• Jason Scott Williams, Beckley, W. Va., charged with issuing a bad check, complied with conditions imposed by court, case dismissed.
• Ben Standridge, Stuart, convicted of probation violation, court revoked 60 days of previously suspended sentence and assessed costs.
• Derrick Eugene Maxie, Rocky Mount, convicted of probation violation, court revoked 40 days of previously suspended sentence and assessed costs.
• Jessie Belcher, Stuart, convicted of probation violation, court revoked 30 days of previously suspended sentence, assessed costs.
