The Army Corps of Engineers announced that Goose Point Campground will offer another way to spend your holiday in the safety of one of its most popular campground and day use area.
On Christmas Day, movies will be shown outside (weather permitting) and a visit from Santa Claus is possible after he completes his scheduled rounds.
All Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines will be followed and enforced, including social distancing, wearing face masks, and the like, to ensure everyone’s safety.
“With the virus on everyone’s mind and knowing we have a lot of campers in the Bassett region, we wanted to offer a place for families to safely get together outside of their homes this year” said Christopher Powell, Operations Manager for the Army Corps of Engineers at Philpott Lake. “The Army Corps of Engineers is very proud to serve the people in this region and we look forward to a very special and safe holiday season.”
Campers wishing to participate need to book reservations ahead of time online at https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/233687 or call (877) 444-6777.
Note that water will be provided at a community spigot and electricity will be available on individual sites. The dump station within the campground will remain closed due to cold temperatures.
