A Stuart man was charged with attempted murder on Nov. 6, following an altercation with his father, according to Patrick County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Austin.
Around 1:21 p.m., the Patrick County 911 center received a call alleging a disturbance at 3243 Clark House Farm Road in Stuart.
When deputies arrived, they located one man outside of the home. According to the preliminary investigation, two men got into a verbal argument that eventually escalated to a physical altercation. One of the men allegedly went outside and retrieved a bottle of suspected lighter fluid. Upon reentry, authorities allege the fluid was poured onto another man, and an attempt was made to ignite it.
The man managed to escape from the home and fled to a neighbor’s house, while the other man allegedly gave chase, breaking out a window in an attempt to get to the other man.
In addition to attempted murder, Eric William Walker, 28, also was charged with damaging property, and being intoxicated in public in connection with the incident.
He is currently being held in Patrick County jail without bond.
