The Hailey’s Hope one mile walk for autism will be held April 27 at Dehart Park, 212 Johnson Street, Stuart. The free family-fun walk to support autism awareness and acceptance begins at 10 a.m.
Hailey’s Hope Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose proceeds help to benefit families in the community that have children suffering from autism. Wendy Wilson, founder of Hailey’s Hope explains that each year one out of 68 children are born with autism.
“My goal is to raise awareness so people understand and accept the disability,” said Wilson. The educational costs for a child with autism can vary greatly along with other economic struggles associated with the disability, she said.
