Blood drive

We are off to a great start for 2017!

Forty-five units of blood were collected at the latest blood drive with a goal of 48 units. That translates to helping as many as 135 people. There were two double-red machines available with a full complement of Red Cross staff at hand.

Thanks to all donors who took time out of their day to do their part to help others in need. There were two first-time donors, 10-gallon donor, a seven-gallon donor, a three-gallon donor, and a two-gallon donor.

Volunteers working during the blood drive were Christine and Laura Citrano, Michelle Boyd, Patty Brunner, Tara Braun, Mary Lou Hall, John Johnson, Pauline Tatum, Linda Smith, and Betty Holt. Thanks, volunteers, for all you do. I appreciate each and every volunteer.

Thank you, Dr. Gregory Hutchens Family Dentistry, a first-time sponsor, for sponsoring this month’s blood drive. The American Red Cross appreciates what the sponsors contribute to the Patrick County Blood Drive.

Next month’s scheduled sponsor is Foley’s Autoville, a long-time sponsor.

Next month’s blood drive is scheduled on Tuesday, February 7, at Rotary Field in Stuart in the John D. Hooker Memorial Building; 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Just remember the first Tuesday of every month.

Please consider giving blood. Make a difference in your life as well as others in need.

Thank you again, Patrick County, for making the January blood drive a success.

Gene Stirewalt,
Blood Drive Coordinator
