Bobby J. Mangrum, age 85, of Stuart, died Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at the VA Hospital in Salem.
He was born in Patrick County on September 22, 1930 and was a son of the late Dolphus Calvin Mangrum and Pearl Grace DeHart Mangrum. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, J.B., Ralph and Garland Mangrum; and one sister, Sue Leigh Mangrum.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and had retired as a mechanic from J.P. Stevens.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Winifred Haynes Mangrum of the home; three sons, Bobby W. Mangrum and wife Amy of Woolwine, Billy Joe Mangrum of Collinsville, and Danny Ray Mangrum and wife Kim of Bassett; three grandchildren, Audrey M. Jones, James Mangrum and Katelyn Grace Mangrum; one step-grandson, Austin Martin; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Mae Jones and Noah Anthony Jones; and one sister, Mabel Wood of Franklin Springs, Ga.
Funeral services were held Friday at Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church with Brother Danny Gilley officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans’ Memorial Honor Guard.
