Bobby O’Bain Hylton, of Bassett, passed away on June 28, 2019. Mr. Hylton was a faithful and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was born in Draper, N.C. on January 28, 1942 to the late Willie Ray Hylton and Virginia Conner Hylton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dillard Hylton, also of Woolwine. Mr. Hylton and his family moved from Draper to Woolwine, where he was raised and attended school. He served in the Army Reserves and worked at Stanley Furniture for 42 years before retiring. Mr. Hylton was a faithful member, deacon, and song leader of Community Primitive Baptist Church in Stuart. He was devoted to the ministry of God’s word and enjoyed singing praises to his God.
Mr. Hylton is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Hughes Hylton of Bassett; his three sons and their wives: Gregory O’Bain Hylton and wife, Jo Ellen of Fieldale; Bobby Ray Hylton and wife Annette of Snow Camp, N.C.; Christopher Lee Hylton and wife Michelle of Boones Mill. Nine grandchildren: Caitlin Hylton Draper and husband Travis, Will Hylton, Adam Hylton and wife Alexandria, Allie Hylton, Ben Hylton, Reiden Hylton, Ashton Hylton, Addison Hylton, and Avery Cole Hylton. Two great-grandchildren: Asher Hylton and Audrey Hylton. Two special sisters-in-law, Daisy Hylton, of Woolwine, and Mary Hilda Martin of Patrick Springs.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, with Elder Lewis Vass, Elder Milton Gunter and Will Hylton officiating. Burial will be in Jack’s Creek Cemetery in Woolwine. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home.
