East Tennessee State University (ETSU) announced out-of-state freshmen students awarded the Public Service Corps Scholarship.
Amanda Bowman, of Stuart, will major in radiology at ETSU. She is a graduate of Patrick County High School. Bowman volunteers at a local food bank and tax office. She is the daughter of Cynthia Mabry and Timothy Bowman, and a member of Fairystone Baptist Church.
Recipients receive financial support equivalent to out-of-state tuition, approximately $18,000 per academic year, for a maximum of eight semesters. The scholarship is available to new freshmen living outside of Tennessee. Recipients live on campus their freshman year in a service-oriented living and learning community and must complete 40 hours of service, with most students serving in local public elementary schools with the Governor’s Birth to Books Foundation.
