Jessica Boyd of Ararat, a sophomore at Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Fla., led her Lady Eagles to a national fifth place finish by defeating Bob Jones University in the NCCAA Division II tournament in Iowa. She scored 12 points in the match-up.

She was named NCCAA Division II Athlete of the Week in basketball in February after scoring a season-high 26 points against Bob Jones University.

Jessica is in her second year of starting for the Lady Eagles. The team has won its last nine games and has had a winning season heading into the tournament.

During her high school career, she played for the Surry Runnin’ Patriots home school team. Her sister Jill currently plays for the Patriots.

She has also been named to the dean’s list each semester she has been enrolled in college.
