Blue Ridge Elementary School inducted 20 new members into the Junior Beta Club on March 15.Junior Beta officers led the ceremony. The club voted for and created an induction ceremony based on the March holiday of St. Patrick’s Day.
Club members decided to use the word “Luck” to explain the pillars of beta: L for leadership, U for understanding, C for character, and K for knowledge. Officers explained these four pillars, and then presented each new member with certificate and pin.
Beta Club president Laurel Puckett made the charge to the new candidates for membership. The ceremony concluded with all members, new and old, reciting the club pledge. Members and parents then enjoyed food and fellowship. BRES Junior Beta just returned from the Junior Beta Convention last month in Williamsburg. Eleven members attended and competed in several areas; such as arts and crafts, academics, scrapbook, t-shirt design, and quiz bowl. The quiz bowl team of four placed second in Division 1. The BRES Junior Beta Club was started in January of 1992, and celebrated 25 years this January. The club now has 42 members, from grades four through seven.
