On Thursday, Dec. 22, officials with both Patrick County and the Town of Stuart agreed to lift the area burn ban that’s been in effect since November 15.
Votes were cast in favor of lifting the ban upon recommendation by Steve Allen, Patrick County Emergency Services Coordinator.
Allen asks county residents to continue to keep dry leaves away from dwellings in case of fire. Also, he asks all residents who plan to do a controlled burn to first notify the county emergency dispatch office at (276) 694-3161 and give the location for the burn. This will help prevent fire departments from being dispatched after calls of smoke sightings at controlled-burn locations, he added.
