David and Cynthia Wright were recognized as community champions for their commitment and dedication to community service.
The Wrights, of EMI Imaging and EMI Security LLC in Stuart, were honored at a July 24 meeting of the Henry County Board of Supervisors.
David Wright, a Bassett native and a graduate of John D. Bassett High School, and his wife Cynthia Wright, are long-time business owners in Patrick and Henry counties.
Their entrepreneurial spirits resulted in the creation and successful operation of several companies, including EMI Imaging, EMI Recycling, and EMI Security; and has created many jobs and opportunities for our residents, according to a resolution presented by the Henry County Board of Supervisors.
Both recognize the importance of giving back to the community and have “clearly demonstrated a philanthropic attitude with such projects as activities for seniors citizens, hosting and managing a food bank to fight hunger and poverty in the area, providing meeting and event space for civic organizations, serving a free Thanksgiving meal to over 400 people” and others, the resolution stated.
The Wrights also have invested considerable time, effort and funding in helping revitalize the communities, and “have clearly lived their faith of loving God and loving thy neighbor, and have instilled the same beliefs and character in their children and grandchildren,” the resolution stated.
The Wrights “are shining examples of what ‘giving back to the community’ should look like,” according to the resolution that also encouraged others “to emulate their drive and determination to make our community a better place to live, work, and raise a family.”
