Local businesses were honored Friday during the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce’s Mardi Gras soiree.

Rebecca Adcock, executive director of the chamber, said the event was to celebrate those who contribute to the economy and tourism in Patrick County.

“We are a band. We are a band of family and friends, a band of businesses, and a band of citizens. When we work together, we make something really beautiful,” Adcock said, as the award presentation got underway.

Patrick County Family Practice was presented with the Business of the Year award, because the medical facility stepped up in a way that “far exceeded expectations” after the hospital closed. The practice in extended its operating hours and hired additional providers.

Mattie B’s, LLC was awarded the Small Business of the Year award; Ten Oaks, LLC received the Large Business of the Year award; One Family Productions received an award for excellence in tourism; and WHEO and The Enterprise both were awarded Business Partners of the Year.
