As part of a statewide canvass required by the Virginia Dept. of Elections, Patrick County reviewed all county election results, finding only one change from the tallies reported on election night.
In the Claudville Precinct, the total “no” votes for the meals-tax referendum was 327, not 227 as originally reported. This was due to a reporting error, explained Susan R. Taylor, Patrick County Registrar.
That brings the total votes against the meals-tax referendum to nearly 63 percent, or 5,034 of the 8,200 votes cast.
The following were write-in candidates for the offices of U.S. President and Vice President: Mike Pence, Ben Carson, Sanders and Warren, Bernie Sanders, Castle, Sandy Reid, Jesus, John McCain, Trump, Paul Ryan, Jesus Christ, Ted Cruz, Samn Hopkin, Alfred E. Newman Pogo, Barack Obama, Ronald Regan, John R. Kasich and Paul Bryan.
For the U.S. 9th District seat in the House of Representatives, write-in candidates were Harry Slate, Rich Boucher, John Wimbish, Ralph Jefferson Turner, Donald Trump, Daffy Duck, Kimberly Lowe, Melodie Wimbush.
For the mayor for the Town of Stuart, write-ins were Goofy Dog, Mac Deekens, David Harris, Rebecca Adcock, Timothy Hall and Jeff Houchins.
For Stuart Town Council, write-ins were David Harris, John Shoffner, David A. Harris, Hope for the Future, JW Young, Timothy Hall and Jeff Houchins.
