Shae Cardwell, a recent PCHS graduate, has earned her distinguished badge for shooting. She traveled to Camp Perry, Ohio, to participate in the 2018 National Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Regional Competition.
In order to receive this badge she had to place in the top 10 percent of the national competitions. She also had to earn 30 Excellence in Competitions (EIC) points, which she accomplished by placing in the top 10 percent 30 times. Combined, these two factors led to her acquiring the distinguished badge.
Along with Cardwell being presented with a distinguish badge, she also earned the title of ‘Junior Distinguished Shooter.’
According to the Civilian Marksmanship Program, the main purposes of the program are to: “instruct citizens of the United States in marksmanship, promote practice and safety in the use of firearms, conduct competitions in the use of firearms, and to award trophies, prizes, badges, and other insignia to competitors.”
