Caring Hearts Free Clinic just finished their third annual “Share Your Heart with Pasta” fundraiser on Monday, Feb. 11. Christie Fain, executive director, said, “We could not be more pleased with the overwhelming response we received.” A total of 255 meals were distributed by the end of the night and more than $2,100 was raised.
“We exceeded our expectations and goal. All of this would not have been possible without the love and support from individuals in the community by purchasing meals,” she said.
The fundraiser was a “Drive and Dine” style, where you pre-ordered your meal ahead of time, then on the day of the event, drove to the front entrance of The Landmark Center where someone was waiting with your food in hand. Total time spent was less than three minutes and you didn’t even have to get out of your car.
Rotary Club of Stuart also purchased an overwhelming 60 meals on the night of the fundraiser. They used the meal as their annual Valentine’s Dinner for their members and significant others. They presented Fain and Jane Carlson, board chairman, with a check in support of the work they do at the clinic. Rotary has been, and continues to be, a huge supporter of the work the free clinic does.
A special thank you goes to The Landmark Center for presenting and planning the event. Numerous people deserve praise for planning, organizing, and preparing the fundraiser and delicious meal. Fain said, “Caring Hearts appreciates the support of our local partners who help build connections in the wider community and also helps enhance the lives of the individuals we aid.”
Also, a huge thank you goes to the sponsor of the event which was Foley’s Autoville.
“We could not continue to serve the uninsured patients without generous people such as yourselves. Each person is such an important piece of the puzzle. By purchasing the meal, everyone helped the clinic be able to continue providing medical care to the uninsured residents of Patrick County. We sincerely thank you for this donation,” Fain said.
Caring Hearts Free Clinic is currently accepting patients who are uninsured residents of Patrick County and are 300 percent or below the Federal Poverty Level. For more information, call (276) 694-3410 to see if you qualify.
