“February is the border between winter and spring.” ~ Terri Guillement
February may be the shortest month, but it also feels the longest. The month where all of our excitement of winter for January is dampened by the cold and wet weather while we just wait for spring. I usually take February as the month that we start really working on all the plans we created in January. The Chamber side of things is no different. We are hopeful that with continued ease of restrictions it will allow us to get back to some of the events and planning that are central to the Chamber.
While being the shortest month, we crammed as much as we could into February. The chamber continues its membership drive. It hosted Racing Under Caution Virtual Awards nominations and voting. The chamber was also the pick-up location for the Start Farmers’ Market Buy Your Love Local online event.
It continues working with the Town of Stuart to move the nomination of the Downtown Historic District forward. There was a public meeting of the building owners in the district, and the nomination will be voted on at the state’s meeting on March 18. To view the presentation of the district, visit the chamber’s website.
February also is grant season, and the chamber is partnering with the Economic Development Authority, Reynolds Homestead, and the West Piedmont Planning District in applying for a rural design grant. Plans also are underway to look into a few other grant opportunities.
The chamber is accepting applications for the PCVA Business Builders 8-week boot camp program for starting a business. If you are thinking of taking the plunge and wanting to open a business in Patrick County, this program is for you to learn the ins and outs of starting a business.
Some funding is available to use as award money for the “pitch night.”
For more information, visit the chamber’s website.
The chamber is partnering with Reynolds Homestead on the Empty Bowls Event by hosting the online tickets for the event, with the purchase and pick up at Rotary Field on Saturday, March 13.
The organization also is fine-tuning the details for its professional headshot day on April 10.
For more information on any of these programs, check out the chamber’s website at www.patrickchamber.com or call (276) 694-6012.
