September is that month that we have big transitions, from summer to fall, back to school, gearing up for the end of the year.
This September has brought with it much change. Long time individuals are transitioning with county administration, school board, Reynolds Homestead, and the Town. While these changes bring about anxiety about who will ‘fill their shoes,’ we also should be hopeful that it will spur new and exciting things for our county.
The chamber extends a hearty thank you for years of service to those individuals who have retired, and we look forward to working with their replacements.
September went by fast. Several meetings were conducted on upcoming fall events, including Stuart Spooktacular, Hometown Christmas and the Smithsonian Museum on Main Street exhibit that is opening December 4th at the Creative Arts Center.
The other big project we worked on was our Tony’s Pizza Park beautification project. Through our Keep Virginia Beautiful grant, the chamber partnered with the Town of Stuart, Tony’s Pizza, Patrick County Barn Quilt group, Patrick County Master Gardeners, Tractor Supply and Leviner Tree Service to spruce up the area beside Tony’s Pizza.
We were able to add eight wooden barn quilts, trim the tree, patch and pressure wash the concrete, paint the picnic table, and have flower containers added. It is a great visual welcome coming into Downtown Stuart.
As we move into October, which is our favorite month, the chamber is gearing up to help the Patrick County Young Professionals with the 6th annual Stuart Spooktacular in Uptown Stuart on Halloween. Sign up to hand out candy on the chamber’s website.
The Town’s annual Apple Dumpling Festival is coming on October 16, and we use this day to unveil our yearly Christmas ornament, so come see us!
