“It is not enough to just do your best or work hard; you must know what to work on.” ~ W. Edwards Deming.
June was full of things to work on. I do not always promise that I know exactly what to work on, but I try to listen to the community and focus my efforts there. We are halfway through this year, and the chamber has worked on a lot of projects, some fruitful (the Patrick County Magazine, Lunch and Learn Programs), and some not (grants not approved), and several projects in the different stages of completion.
In June, we focused on promoting all the great community events that occurred across the county, gauging interest, and involvement for bringing Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to Patrick County. It also happened to hit the month of not only monthly, but also quarterly board meetings, so one week was completely covered by board meetings. Always helpful in keeping knowledgeable of what is going on in the county and across our different service regions of partner organizations.
The chamber resumed helping to organize food purchases from local producers for the West Piedmont Planning Commission’s COVID relief grant.
July starts with a respite for the chamber office. We will be closed July 4 through July 8. And, then we start full in with finalizing the magazine ads and content. The chamber also is actively accepting the PCVA Business Builders applications. This 8-week boot camp for individuals interested in starting a brick-and-mortar business in Patrick County will begin August 2. Applications are available on our website or contact the chamber office. Applications are due July 15.
Check out the chamber’s website at www.patrickchamber.com, or call the office to learn more.
Upcoming Events include Business After Hours at The Landmark Center on Tuesday, July 19, Fall Issue of the Patrick County Magazine.
New Members this year: New College Institute.
