September 2019
By Rebecca Adcock
Where did September go? It was hot, humid and went by way too fast. Most of the month for the chamber was taken up by the Patrick County Agricultural Fair – booth planning, getting ready, setting up, working that week and then taking down. We were able to meet and greet with so many wonderful Patrick County businesses. Kudos to the Rotary Club of Stuart for another great fair.
September filled up with meetings as well. We attended the Patrick County Stakeholders meeting at Virginia Tech. This group is working toward creative ideas and solutions for our county. The Health Coalition group has been meeting monthly to work on healthcare solutions with the Department of Health involved.
In between the fair and meetings, the chamber worked on upcoming fall events: Spooktacular, Apple Dumpling Festival, Small Business Saturday and Hometown Christmas.
The Chamber is also happy to announce that the playing cards are finally out of graphic design and moving toward printing. There was an issue with some of the layout that had to be corrected before we could move forward. They will be here in time for the holidays. We also spent the month working on the chamber’s Fall event “Casino Night.” Mark your calendars for Nov. 16 at the Reynolds Homestead for this fun evening of poker games. We have hired a firm and will have nine tables for play.
The Chamber partnered with Patrick County Tourism to release the holiday ornament. This year, we continued the “Virginia is for Lovers” theme and placed the LOVE sign on a pretty red ornament. Stop by the Chamber and pick one up. We will also be open on Oct. 19 during the Stuart’s Apple Dumpling Festival and the Reynolds Holiday Craft Fair on Nov. 9.
As we work into October, we are focusing on the 5th Annual Spooktacular. Please visit the chamber’s website if you would like to sign up to hand out candy or need more information on all the exciting activities associated with this event.
We welcome our newest member to the chamber: Heavenly Hill Honey from Ararat, Virginia.
