It’s never too early to start planning ahead, according to Rebecca Adcock, executive director of the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce.
She is hoping many will start planning their Christmas decorating now and buy an ornament or two, as chamber officials consider making new Christmas ornaments/mugs.
“Help us make room for new ones” by taking a few of the older ones home, Adcock said.
The keepsake pieces made in previous years feature local landmarks, including one from 2013, which is adorned with Meadows of Dan Elementary School.
The school building was heavily damaged in a 2011 blaze. Most of it was later demolished to make way for the present-day school. The school depicted on the ornament and the mug is like a historical snapshot of the school before the blaze.
The ornament, like the school mascot color, is red. Students are the Meadows of Dan Cardinals.
More of those ornaments and/or mugs remain than any other year or style, but Adcock said there also are others to choose from, including one featuring the green and gold colors of the Patrick County High School Cougars.
All of the available ornaments and mugs are displayed in the chamber office.
The ornaments are $12 each, and the mugs are $8 each, Adcock said.
Supplies are limited, and include only those on hand at the chamber, located at 334 Patrick Avenue, Stuart.
