The Reynolds Homestead, located in Critz, is bringing back its College for Older Adults program in full form this spring. After postponing several sessions and offering a hybrid version last fall, the staff and volunteers at the Reynolds Homestead recently announced all classes and activities will be held in person this spring, with courses beginning April 11.

College for Older Adults is a semi-annual six week program, held in both the spring and fall. The sessions offer cultural, intellectual, social, and fitness opportunities for adults ages 50 and older. The program is perfect for lifelong learners, those curious about the world around them, people interested in trying new things or making new connections, and anyone who enjoys planning outings and activities.

The Spring 2022 semester runs through May 20, and will feature a wide variety of classes and activities, including field trips, crafting opportunities, fitness sessions, hikes, outdoor learning, and a full series of art classes hosted by Bull Mountain Arts.

Instructors will include staff from Virginia Museum of Natural History, Fairy Stone State Park rangers, local and regional historians, and Frank X Walker, an Affrilachian poet, educator, and author. For the full schedule of classes and activities, visit the Reynolds Homestead website at www.reynoldshomestead.vt.edu/upcoming-events/COA.html

The $60 membership fee includes tuition for all weekly classes along with specialty one-time offerings. Some classes, such as art/crafts classes, make and takes, and field trips, may require additional supply or transportation fees.

Payments may be made online by credit or debit card, or via check made payable to Treasurer of Virginia Tech. Online and printable registration options can be accessed from Reynolds Homestead’s Facebook page and website. Paper catalogs are available at the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce and Blue Ridge Regional Library.
