The Patrick County Chamber of Commerce announced Friday that executive director Tim Collins said he was resigning to accept a consulting position in the private sector, effective July 1.
Collins’ departure comes after more than four years of service, according to a release from the chamber. “Tim has been an invaluable, motivated leader for our organization and for the community. His ability to advocate for business, build partnerships and drive the organization forward serves as a model for those who follow. While we are sorry to see him go, we are so very fortunate to have benefited from Tim’s leadership and wish him the best of luck,” Frank Fox, president of the chamber board said.
During his tenure, Collins planned and helped implement many of the organization’s goals and Strategic Plan, as well as helped strengthen the relationships within the community.
He is credited with managing the first update to the chamber’s website, bolstering community relations, implementing several new professional development and educational programs, as well as revitalizing the chamber-sponsored Virginia State Peach Festival.
Also under Collins’ leadership, the chamber entered into a multi-year partnership with the Reynolds Homestead and Patrick County to open the county’s first Visitor and Creative Arts Center.
“It has been a privilege working with so many dedicated professionals who care deeply about the vitality of Patrick County,” Collins said. “This was a tough personal decision to make; it has been my privilege to serve the county and its business community.
“I will always be a Patrick Countian, no matter where my life may take me” he said. “I have enjoyed partnering with the enthusiastic directors of the chamber, and I know that a great future lies ahead” for the county.
A committee was appointed by the chamber board to find Collins’s successor.
Interested candidates must have a thorough background in fundraising, event management, website maintenance, and with running a nonprofit part-time.
