The Patrick County Food Bank will hold a distribution from 8:30 to 11 a.m. in Ararat and from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Meadows of Dan.

While the Woolwine Elementary School cash bingo, crafts, and vendors will be rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances, the chicken sandwich meal is still on. The chicken sandwich meal, consisting of a chicken sandwich, chips, and drink, can be purchased for $5, or 5 meals for $20. Meals can be picked up through the car rider line in front of the school from 4 to 7 p.m. At 7:15 p.m., a drawing for door prizes will be live on Facebook. Saturday Oct. 16 & Oct. 23
Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) will hold an Introduction to Photography class by certified photographer Rick Dawson. The class will be held at the P&HCC Patrick County site from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost of the class is $60, and pre-registration is required by calling (276) 656-5461, or visit ph.augusoft.net.
Saturday, Oct. 16
The Ararat Ruritan Club will hold a Jackpot Bingo at 6 p.m. The event costs $20 for 20 games. Each game pays out $50 with coverall payout at $150 if not won in 51 draws. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.
The Apple Dumpling Festival 5K will be held at 8 a.m. in Downtown Stuart. The 5k race is run along the Mayo River Rail Trail prior to the town’s Apple Dumpling Festival. Pre-registered runners receive a guaranteed t-shirt size. All runners will receive a finishing medal, marked course, and a chance for awards. The Fariystone Volunteer Fire Department will hold a country breakfast from 6:30 to 10 a.m. at the Fairystone Volunteer Fire Department. Dine in prices are $8 for an adult plate and $4 for a child plate. All to go plates are $8 each. To call in an order, call 276-930-2113.
A Bassett Highway 57 Cruise-in will be held in Downtown Bassett from 3 to 7 p.m. for the season ending “Race Night.” Come out to see classic cars and enjoy great food along the beautiful Smith River.

The Critz/Patrick Springs Community Crime Watch meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Critz Baptist Church. Guest speaker Sheriff Dan Smith will discuss operations and changes in the past year. Call Deputy Mike Harris or Smith at (276) 694-3161 with questions.
The Patrick County Planning Commission will hold a work-session/business meeting on Tuesday, October 19th at the (Stuart) Patrick Henry Community Collage starting at 1 p.m, till 5 p.m.

The Ararat Ruritan Club will hold a BBQ/Cruise-in. Each plate costs $10 and includes BBQ, potatoes, slaw, roll, homemade dessert, and drink. Eat in or take out. The cruise-in will feature a people’ choice award. All cruisers are welcome to attend.

The Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church will fold a Trunk-or-Treat event from 5 to 7 p.m. It is completely free, and all kids are welcome.

The Patrick County Food Bank will hold a distribution from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Stuart and Ararat and from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Stuart and Meadows of Dan.
The Reynolds Homestead will host its annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair in person from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Community Engagement Center in Critz. Vendors are welcome to apply online at https://bit.ly/ReynoldsCraftFair.com, and physical application forms are also available at the Creative Arts Center (Patrick County Chamber of Commerce) or at the Reynolds Homestead.
