Carroll County Genealogy Club will hold a special called meeting at 4 p.m. at the club on Main St., Hillsville. If Carroll County Schools are closed due to inclement weather the meeting will be postponed.
The Fairystone/Pole Bridge Community Crime Watch meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Fairystone Fire Department. The guest speaker will be Inv. Brian Hubbard speaking on drug trends in our county.
Friday, Feb. 18
The Woolwine United Methodist Church mobile food pantry and the Ross Harbour United Methodist Church children clothing ministry will be at the Fairystone Fire Department from 3-5 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 19
The Ararat Ruritan Club will host its monthly Jackpot Bingo at 6 p.m. Cost is $20 for 20 games, coveralls $5 each PLUS door prizes and concessions. Each game pays out $50 with the cover-all payout at $150 if not won within 56 draws. This month’s jackpot is $1,300, if the coverall is won within 56 draws.
Doors open at 5 p.m., with concessions which include hotdogs, chips, candy, soft drinks and bottled water.
The Fairystone Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Country Breakfast from 6:30-10 a.m. Dine in prices are $8 for an adult plate and $4 for a child plate. All take out prices are $8 each. Call in orders can be made by calling (276) 930-2113.
The Woolwine Fire Department will hold a Shindig from 5-8 p.m. with food and music. Admission to the event is free, and a poor man’s supper of pinto beans, mashed potatoes, slaw, cornbread and drink will be available for purchase for $6 a plate starting at 5 p.m. Desserts will also be available for purchase. Jordan T. Morrison & The Foothill Boys will provide music from 6-8 p.m.

Surry Community College is offering a three-month NC Real Estate Provisional Broker Pre-Licensing course that will meet at the Pilot Center in Pilot Mountain. The class will start Monday, Feb. 21 and run through Thursday, May 26 with students meeting each Monday and Thursday from 6-9 p.m. The class will cost $182 for tuition and an additional $50 for the book and printed course materials.
