The Patrick Henry Community Crime Watch meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Patrick Henry Fire Department. Guest speaker investigator Jason Kruse will discuss internet crimes against children.
Thursday, March 10
The public hearing on the Patrick County Public Schools 2022-2023 budget will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the lower level conference room of the School Board Building.
Saturday, March 12
Rotary Field in Stuart will hold a Small Business Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with crafts, home décor, food and sweets, and more will be available for purchase.
The Francisco Fire Department will hold its annual chicken stew meal with each quart of chicken stew being $8 a quart. The department is only doing pre-orders, and stew will be ready for pick-up from 2-4 p.m. All orders must be submitted by March 4 by midnight. To order, see any fire department member or call the fire department at (336) 351-2696 and leave a message with your name and telephone number and someone will call you back to verify your order. This year the department has partnered with Double Creek Fire Department to support kids in need and their families that attend Nancy Reynolds Elementary at Christmas time. All proceeds will go to support that cause.

Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) will hold a Still Life Photography: Flowers course from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Pre-registration is required by calling 276-656-5461, or by going to ph.augusoft.net. The first two classes will take place at the Patrick County site. The last two courses will be held at Walker 135.

Patrick & Henry Community College(P&HCC) will hold a nurse aid training course with lectures on Monday and Wednesday from 12:30-3:30 p.m., labs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-3:30 p.m., and clinical hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost of the course in $3,495, but the FastFoward price is $1,165. The first Mountain Top Alzheimer’s Support Lunch will be at 12 p.m. at the Vesta Community Center. It will be cancelled if school is called off for bad weather.

The Patrick County Community Food Bank will hold a distribution day in Stuart from 8:30-11 a.m. and 5-6:30 p.m., in Ararat from 8:30-11 a.m., and in Meadows of Dan from 5-6:30 p.m.

Surry Community College is offering a three-month NC Real Estate Provisional Broker Pre-Licensing course that will meet at the Pilot Center in Pilot Mountain. The class will start Monday, Feb. 21 and run through Thursday, May 26 with students meeting each Monday and Thursday from 6-9 p.m. The class will cost $182 for tuition and an additional $50 for the book and printed course materials.
