Wednesday, Dec. 14
The Patrick County Economic Development Authority (EDA) will meet at 7 p.m. in the second-floor board room of the Patrick County Administration Building.
The Patrick County Soil and Water Conservation District’s monthly Board of Directors meeting will be held at 1 p.m. at the Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) Stuart site in the Community Room.

The Stuart Town Council meets at 7 p.m. in the town office.

Wednesday, Dec. 14
The Patrick County Community Food Bank will hold a distribution day at the Stuart site from 8:30-11 a.m. and from 5-6:30 p.m. There will be a morning distribution in Ararat from 8:30-11 a.m. and an evening distribution in Meadows of Dan from 5-6:30 p.m.
Thursday, December 15
Peter Holland & Once Upon a Blue Ridge will present A Christmas Carol on at 6 p.m. This family friendly, musical adaptation of the Dickens classic is a 50 minute show. Tickets are $6 adult/$4 children and can be purchased online at www.reynoldshomestead.vt.edu.
Friday, Dec. 16
The Woolwine Mobile Food Unit will be at the Fairy Stone Volunteer Fire Department from 3-5 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 17
The second annual Christmas Spectacular will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 264 Woodland Drive in Stuart. Local vendors will be onsite selling their wares, and Santa Claus will be present from 12-1 p.m.
The Meadows of Dan Community Association will hold a community meeting regarding the closure of the Truist bank branch in Meadows of Dan. The meeting will be held at 10 a.m. at the Meadows of Dan Baptist Church.
Folk Mountain Gospel will perform at Stuart Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 220 Patrick Ave., Stuart, at 4:30 p.m.
Events at Fairystone State Park include Fairy Stone Hunt at noon, Visitor Center; Fairy Stone Workshop at 2 p.m., Shelter 3; Magic Trees at 3 p.m., Shelter 3; Little Mountain Falls Hike at 3:30 p.m., Amphitheatre Trailhead.

The Pleasant View Baptist Church Adult Choir will present “Hope Has Hands” at 10:30 a.m. The Children’s Christmas Program will be presented at 6 p.m. All are invited to attend.
Fairy Stone State Park will hold an Oak Hickory Hike starting at 2 p.m. at Shelter 3. A Fairy Houses and Gnomes Homes will start at 3 p.m. at Shelter 3.

Fairy Stone State Park will hold an Iron Mine Hike starting at 2 p.m. at Stuart Knob’s Trailhead.
Friday, Dec. 23
Events at Fairy Stone State Park include Moonshine Hollow Hike, 10 a.m. at the Visitor Center; Whiskey Run Hike, 2 p.m. at Stuart’s Knob Trailhead; Fayerdale: The Missing Town at 3 p.m., Shelter 3.

The Coffee Break Café hosts live music on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. Bring an instrument, or just come and listen.

The Ararat Ruritan Club hosts virtual raffles on its Facebook page on the first of each month. Various items are raffled off at $10 or $20 per limited chance. There are 30-35 chances on each raffle. The Stuart Elementary School Running Club will hit the pavements along the sidewalks in town on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
The Briarpatch Amateur Radio Club will hold an in-person VE (exam) session 7 p.m. Thursday January 12th, and an in-person club meeting 7:30 Thursday, January 26th, 2023. Both events will be held at First Christian Church in Galax, VA. Officer elections will be held at the BARC meeting, membership dues will be collected, an auction of analog gear is anticipated and the 2023 events schedule will be discussed. All amateur radio operators and interested non-hams are welcome to attend.
