Thursday, Oct. 23

The Tourism Advisory Council and Patrick County Board of Supervisors will hold a joint meeting at 6 p.m. in the community room of Patrick & Henry Community College.

 

Wednesday, Oct. 29

Patrick County Tourism will host a grant workshop at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the community room of Patrick & Henry Community College.

Thursday, Oct. 23

The Patrick County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Patrick & Henry Community College will hold a How to Establish Business Credit workshop from 12-1 p.m. at the Patrick County site. The cost is $15.

 

The Patrick County Library will hold the “Homeschool Bookworms” meet from 10:30-11:30 a.m. This is an informal meeting for homeschool children aged 6 and up to come to the library to learn about the elements of stories and also learn presentation skills. Free and no registration required.  Please call 276-694-3352 for more information. 

 

Friday, Oct. 24

The Patrick County Library will hold its Senior Social at 11 a.m.; enjoy coffee, pastries and bingo. Free. No registration required. Call 276-694-3352 for more information. 

 

Saturday, Oct. 25

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser for the family of Dustin Hill, 4 p.m. until at the Red Bank Ruritan Building. Meal includes salad, spaghetti, bread, and dessert for $12 per plate and $5 for those aged 6 and under. Eat in or take out. Hill died in an August vehicle accident. He leaves behind a wife and five small children. Donations are also appreciated and can be mailed to 1828 Red Bank School Road, Claudville, Va., 24076. Providence United Methodist Church men’s group in Patrick Springs will hold a community breakfast from 7:30 to 10 a.m., with bacon, sausage, eggs, apples, gravy, and biscuits. Donations will help fund local mission projects. The food pantry will be open for those who are in need of non-perishable food. The Patrick County Master Gardeners will follow the community breakfast with an educational workshop in the church fellowship hall. 

 

Fall Festival from 4-7 p.m. at Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church on Spring Road, Patrick Springs, with hot dogs, hayrides, trunk or treat, a bouncy house, and carnival games.

 

Patrick County Library will hold a Monster Mat making program at 11 a.m. Registration is required. Limited spots available, $5 supply fee. Call 276-694-3352. 

 

Benefit singing at Sycamore Baptist Church with music by The Revelators, 6 p.m.. All proceeds will go to Patrick County Christmas Cheer.

 

Ross Harbour Methodist Church will hold a Trunk or Treat event from 4-6 p.m., 6260 Elamsville Road, Stuart, in the lower parking lot.

 

Sunday, Oct. 26

The Bassett Ruritan Club will host an Open Mic/Jam Session from 1:30-4 p.m. at the Ruritan Building. Musicians are welcome, and the public’s invited. There is no admission fee. For more information, call Randy Farmer, (276) 629-8296.

 

Friday, Oct. 31

Halloween event at the Meadows of Dan Community Building from 5-8 p.m. Those wishing to help hand out candy should contact Katlyn Boyd at (276) 952-8379.

 

Bassett Ruritan Club will hold a country Halloween breakfast, 8-11 a.m. Food will include ham, sausage, eggs, apples, gravy and biscuits, coffee, and juice. Adult plates are $9, and child plates are $4. All proceeds go to the Ruritan Club. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume. Music by the Morton Brothers will start at 10 a.m.

 

Wayside Community Church will hold its annual Fall Chili-Cook Off & Music, 6:30 p.m. at 3520 Wayside Road, Stuart. Pastor Ben Atkins as the speaker.  Music by Grace Group. Bring a chili recipe to share or come by to enjoy food and fellowship.

 

Saturday, Nov. 1

Hometown Heroes and Touch and Truck event, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tractor Supply. 

 

Friday, Nov. 7

The community food truck will be at Woolwine Smith River Rescue Squad from 3-4 p.m.

 

Saturday, Nov. 8

The 2025 Veterans’ Day Parade will be held at 1 p.m., from Moody’s Funeral Home at West Blue Ridge Street and down Main Street. Immediately after the parade, a ceremony will be held at Rotary Field. Anyone interested in riding on a float provided by Patrick County Ruritans should contact David Belcher, (276) 692-6506, or Kevin Smith, (276) 229-6493.

 

Tuesday, Nov. 11

The Patrick County Chamber of Commerce and Patrick & Henry Community College will hold a Billing Customers workshop from 12-1 p.m. at the Patrick County site. The cost is $15.

Inside yard sale to benefit Patrick County Alzheimer’s Group LLC. Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Members meet on the first Monday of every month at 6 p.m. in the Alzheimer’s office. New members are welcome. For more information, call (276) 693-6018.

 

The Coffee Break Café hosts live music on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. Bring an instrument, or just come and listen.

 

Community meal at Salem Church on Salem Church Road in Critz, the first Sunday of every month at 12:10 p.m.  Call (276) 222-1069 with questions.

 

Vesta Alzheimer’s Group LLC meets at the Vesta Community Center on the third Tuesday each month at noon. Both groups welcome new members and invite caregivers to attend. Literature is also available.

 

Ararat Ruritan Club holds Rook games every Monday night from 6:30-8 p.m.

 

Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard meets on the first Tuesday of every month at the American Legion Post 105, at 7 p.m. Interested veterans are welcome to attend.

 

Free Community Meal, on the 4th Wednesday, 5 p.m., Raven Rock Wesleyan Church, 1912 Raven Rock Road, Ararat. Take out or dine in. Call Scott or Nann Phillips at (276) 773-6004 or email pastor@ravenrockchurch.org.

 

The Carroll County Genealogy Club is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

 

Willis Gap Community Center: Members Meeting, the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.; Appalachian Acoustic Open Jam, every Friday. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for food, with music and dancing, 6:30-9 p.m.; Golden Oldies Open Jam is on the last Tuesday of the month. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for food, music, and dancing from 6:30-9 p.m.
