The Patrick County Community Food Bank will open at the Stuart site from 8:30-11 a.m. and from 5-6:30 p.m., at the Fellowship Church in Ararat from 8-10 a.m., and at the Community Building in Meadows of Dan starting at 5:30 p.m.

The Patrick County Senior Citizens Group will meet at 11 a.m. in the Hooker Building at Rotary Field in Stuart, with entertainment provided by Jimmy Handy. Attendees are requested to bring finger foods and desserts to share. Also, in support of the local food bank, each attendee is requested to bring two cans of nonperishable food as a donation.

The Patrick County Library will hold its Homeschool Bookworm program at 10:30 a.m. with homeschoolers aged 6-10 welcome.
Saturday, Dec. 13
Sammy Shelor’s annual ‘Banjorama,’ will be held in the Patrick County High School (PCHS) Auditorium, 215 Cougar Lane, Stuart. Doors open at 5 p.m., music starts at 6. Admission is free, courtesy of Hopkins Lumber and Patrick County. However, donations are appreciated. Nonperishable food also will be collected, and donated to the Patrick County Food Bank to help those in need.

The Reynolds Homestead will hold its Victorian Christmas Open House from 1-4 p.m. Members of the Rock Spring Descendants committee will be hosting special crafts, historical interpretation, and other activities. The event is free to the public.

DeHart Park’s Festival of Lights will be held nightly from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday-Thursday nights and from 6-9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
The Patrick County Parks and Recreation Office are holding sign-ups for grades K–3 basketball season. The deadline is Monday, January 12. Students in grades K – 1 and students in grades 2-3 will play on co-ed teams according to the two described grade-level groupings on Saturdays during February and March. The Patrick County Patriots will hold a Turkey Shoot each Saturday in January and the first Saturday February in 2026. Events will be held at the Smith River Wildlife Building. Practice starts at 12:30 p.m. and the shoot starts at 1 p.m. Factory chokes only, no sleeves are allowed.
