New Hope Church of the Brethren in Elamsville — BBQ Chicken Plate (includes green beans, corn, slaw, roll, dessert, & drink) $8, from 4 to 7 p.m. Drive-thru service only. This is a fundraiser for 24 orphan girls in Mare-rouge, Haiti.
The Stuart Farmers’ Market is now open for on-site shopping on Fridays 8 a.m. to noon.
Friday, August 7: National Farmers’ Market Week. Come help us celebrate. Tool Sharpening available. Bring those dull knives, scissors and mower blades. Have them sharpened while you shop. August 11:
The next Red Cross Blood Drive will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at Rotary Field, in Stuart. The donor for this month is Blue Ridge Furniture. The Red Cross suggests getting plenty of rest before donating, drinking plenty of water. Donors also are encouraged to remain at the donation point for a 15-minute rest and to eat something before leaving the site. If you have not donated before, come and see us. Donations are always needed.
