Thursday, Sept. 24

Mountain Valley Brewing and the Blue Ridge Regional Library will host a virtual “Friends” trivia night from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. To register, send an email to events@brrl.lib.va.us and you will receive an email with a link to join the Zoom meeting the day of the event.

Saturday, Sept. 26

The Patrick County Demolition Derby will be held at the Rotary Field Amphitheater starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 cash at the gate. Children 12 and under get in for free.

The New Hope Church of the Brethren will hold a fundraiser from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for Ann Easter, whose home suffered major damage from an underground mudslide in May. The meal is drive-thru only, and an $8 donation per plate is appreciated. The meal will consist of BBQ pork, green beans, corn, slaw, roll, desert, and drink.

Monday, Sept. 28

Alan Dean will be holding a class on diabetes at the Life Spring Center, 218 Patrick Ave., Stuart at 7 p.m. The class will focus on why diabetes develops, how to naturally control or reverse its development. Attendance will be limited to 25 people, masks will be required and temperatures will be taken at the door. The class is free and for the public.

Saturday, Oct. 3

The Ararat Ruritan Club is selling 8 ft table “spots” for $10 for a “Vendor Blender” event to be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The 12 tables will be reserved on a first come-first serve basis. Vendors will have the 8 ft table and one-two feet between tables as their space. There will only be one table per product. Email AraratRuritanClub@gmail.com for an application. Include the product to be sold.

The Stuart Farmers’ market is now open for on-site shopping on Fridays 8 a.m. to noon. No sales before 8 a.m. Masks and social distancing for patrons encouraged. Stay up to date with market events with Stuart Farmers’ Market Facebook Page.

The Jeb Stuart Rescue Squad is auctioning off a 2001 Ford F450 4×4 unit via silent auction. The 2001 unit has a mileage of 142,336 and maintenance logs are available upon request. Bids can be mailed to P.O. Box 340 Patrick Springs 24133 by Friday, Oct. 16 by 5 p.m.

Patrick Henry Community College will hold a laser cutter course on Tuesdays, Sept. 15-Oct 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Covered topics include safety, operations, software, materials, and project design best practices. Upon completing the class, students will be certified to schedule time on the laser cutter for their own projects. Preregistration is required by calling (276) 656-5461 or emailing ph.august.net and the class costs $104 including all supplies.

Hardin Reynolds Memorial School, noon to 12:30 p.m.

Hardin Reynolds Road (Ramey’s), 12:35 p.m. to 12:50 p.m.

Patrick Henry Volunteer Fire Station, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Salem United Methodist Church, 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
