Last week’s weather made golfing a difficult undertaking for the Patrick County High School Cougar golf team. They did get in one match at Beaver Hills Golf Club hosted by Bassett hosted last Tuesday.
Franklin County won the match with a score of 299. Halifax was second with a 311. The Cougars were close behind in third with a team score of 318.
Magna Vista, Tunstall and Bassett rounded out the next three spots.
Leading scorer for the Cougars was Jarrod Burnette, shooting a 76. He was followed by Evan Hopkins with a 79. Wesley Diggs shot an 81 and Daniel Smith tallied an 82.
“This was one of our best team scores of the season,” said Coach Philip Steagall. “I am pleased with our play at this point in the season and want us to continue improving,” Steagall added.
The Cougars played at Olde Mill Monday. They hope to make up another match from last week later on in the week.
