George Washington of Danville hosted all eight district golf teams last Tuesday at Tuscarora Golf Course, and the Patrick County High School Cougars finished third with a score of 345.
Halifax won the competition with a score of 333; Franklin County was close behind with a 335. Medalist of the day was John Ferguson from Franklin County.
Daniel Smith was low scorer for the Cougars, shooting an 82. Wesley Diggs carded an 86, while Evan Hopkins shot an 88. Nate Scott added an 89.
“Tuscarora is a tough course, but we battled through some difficult holes and managed to post some decent scores,” said PC Coach Philip Steagall.
Last Thursday’s match against Carroll County at Olde Mill was postponed. The Cougars were scheduled to play at Bassett Tuesday.
