The Patrick County Boys Varsity Team won an exciting game against Dan River Friday night, 61-55. The Cougars got off to a slow start, but picked up steam and went into halftime up 32-28.
“Great effort tonight by our guys,” said Coach Brian Chitwood. “Really excited for our boys to get a -Region 2C Tournament win at home.
“It was a big game by Jai Penn- 25 points, 9 rebounds, 8 steals, and 5-12 from 3-point land. David Smith got back on the double-double train with 17 points and 16 rebounds. Payton Stovall chipped in with 10 points,” Chitwood said.
“All in all, it was a good crowd and a good win,” he said. “Thanks to all who showed up at the Cougar Den this season. I hope we will have a good crowd head of the mountain Tuesday to root your Cougars on as we face the Buffaloes of Floyd County who are ranked #3 in the state in Boys 2A Basketball.”
