The Patrick County High School Cougar baseball team fell to the Blacksburg Bruins in the last play of the game last Wednesday afternoon at Blacksburg.
The teams were tied 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh when Blacksburg’s Hunter Radford hit a single to drive in a runner to edge ahead 3-2.
Blacksburg scored a run in the first inning to take the lead and added another run in the second to lead 2-0 before the Cougars added a run in the third. The Cougars tied the game 2-2 with another run in the sixth inning.
Dylan Phillips took the loss on the mound for the Cougars. He gave up three runs, seven hits and struck out one.
Jared Brown, Andrew Collins and Parker Brown each had two hits for the Cougars. Evan Hopkins and Colby Vernon each added one hit. Hopkins and Andrew Collins scored for the Cougars.
The Cougars traveled to Tunstall Tuesday and will host Martinsville today (Wednesday).
