About 25 members and guests of the 
(DRBA) took a leisurely paddle down the Smith River in Saturday’s First Saturday Outing. It was the first time DRBA has floated the Smith River. Kayakers put in near the Eastman Chemicals plant above Fieldale. The trip passed several interesting points that can only be seen from the water, including the old Koehler Cement plant. The trip concluded near the Martinsville Dam at the Doe Run Canoe Access on DuPont Rd.
