Disabled American Veterans Chapter 61 of Mount Airy, N.C., met Tuesday, August 16. A buffet supper was held at 6 p.m. with the meeting at 7 p.m. After the regular meeting, DAV Commander Chilton presented a certificate of appreciation to Stephen Hammond, Surry Community College’s lead Instructor of heating and air conditioning, and Jason Beare of Friendly Heating and Air Conditioning. Hammond and Beare, along with his class from SCC, put in a new heat pump for the DAV Building of Chapter 61 which saved them $4,000.
