Although the national commemoration of Public Safety Telecommunicators Week was last week, Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith said local dispatchers deserve a longer celebration.
Their “dedication to our community is not recognized enough. We are very blessed to have each and every one of you,” Smith said.
“Their role in public safety is one of the most important,” Smith said of his team of 10 dispatchers. “They are the first voice that people in distress hear when they call for help.”
