“Do not draw back.”
This line from Hebrews 10 reminds us not to stop doing what we know we are to do. The sense of the word is to “take in the sails.” If you take in the sails of the ship, the ship will stop. The purpose of the ship is fulfilled in sailing the seas.
The main thought of this letter to the Hebrews is to encourage these first century Jewish Christians to keep on with Jesus Christ. He is far better than anything they have known in the past. In fact, he states that God has taken away the first, that he may establish the second.
Sure, they had walked through some challenging times, and more would come. But God is God. He has provided a new and better way through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Friends, hear God’s Word today. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. In this day of questions, divisions and uncertainties, I am more convinced than ever that God’s Word is true and is the only real word for today.
Let me remind you of what our old friend Paul said to the Romans. Read those words often and keep your heart focused on the Lord Jesus Christ.
“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus, our Lord.” (Romans 8:30-39, KJV)
What can separate you from the love of God? Nothing! Believe there is no condemnation laid on those who are in Christ Jesus. Not by God. Not by God’s Son. Believe God. Believe His word.
There is an accuser of the brethren. He is a liar and a thief. He seeks to defraud and destroy. Jesus has defeated him on the cross. By his blood, he has won the victory over sin and the fear of death. Greater is He than is in you, that he that is in the world.
Know who you are in Christ Jesus. Know who has redeemed you by His blood. Put your faith in Him and follow Him.
Pray for the coming revival and a change in the spiritual atmosphere of our community.
Amen!
