Dr. Edward Snyder of Snyder Orthodontics in Martinsville and Danville has been elected chair of the Council on Membership, Ethics and Judicial Concerns of the American Association of Orthodontists.
He has led a committee which has rewritten the Principles of Ethics and the Code of Professional Conduct and will advocate for its passage as chairman of the council at the next meeting of the Association. “The revised principles represent the highest ethical standards for orthodontics,” said Snyder.Last week Snyder completed his term as president of the Virginia Association of Orthodontics, which represents approximately 275 orthodontists in the Commonwealth. “We accomplished our goals of increasing membership and attracted more members to our continuing educational programs,” said Snyder.An orthodontist in Southside Virginia since l987, Snyder had been vice president and secretary-treasurer of the organization. He also is the liaison between the Virginia Association and the Southern Association of Orthodontists.Snyder is a former member of the Virginia Board of Dentistry, having been appointed by the Governor in 2004. He also is a former member of the Board of the New College Institute.Snyder is the only Board Certified Orthodontist in Martinsville. He is a graduate of the VCU School of Dentistry and the Eastman School of Dentistry/University of Rochester.Snyder Orthodontics is located at 101 Cleveland Avenue, Suite 6 in Martinsville and 789 Piney Forest Road, Suite 4 in Danville.
