A drug take back is being hosted by the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office on Oct. 28.
Then, unused or expired prescription medication can be turned in safely and anonymously for disposal.
Improper disposal of prescription drugs, such as flushing or pouring down the drain, can contaminate ground water and eventually spread to water supplies like wells and springs.
Also, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That’s dangerous and often tragic.
No needles or syringes will be accepted.
Items can be dropped off at the front office of the sheriff’s office, located at 742 Commerce Street in Stuart, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Collected medications will be properly disposed.
