The head of the Patrick County Economic Development Authority (EDA) Board confirmed that Debbie Foley, director of the agency, will be leaving her post.
Dale Puckett, EDA chairman, said that Foley turned in her resignation in which she asked the Patrick County Board of Supervisors for permission to continue in the post for 30 days.
He explained the supervisors maintain oversight of the EDA, and are responsible for hiring the director.
Puckett said Foley is stepping down due “internal issues within the administration offices.”
He declined to elaborate, but said “the EDA is extremely disappointed that Debbie is leaving, and up until the last minute, we begged her to stay.”
“This volunteer board has worked hard to save the hospital,” Puckett said.
Foley also has worked diligently on that project, he said, adding “we support her decision, but we are beyond belief she is not going to be here.”
Foley took the post in June, 2017.
