Eliza Musick Dobyns, age 86, of Abingdon, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was born on February 10, 1930, to the late Dock Taulbee “D.T.” Musick and Chloe Musick in Cleveland, Va. In addition to her parents, Eliza was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Dobyns; sister, Ruth Irene Moore; and two brothers, Conrad Monroe Musick and Charlie Cowan Musick.
She was the secretary at the private practice of James R. Moore in Abingdon and was employed at the Patrick County School Board in Stuart. She was a long-time attendee of Abingdon Baptist Church and was a member of the Black’s Fort Chapter of the NSDAR.
She is survived by two daughters, Alice Dobyns Edmondson and husband Anthony of Meadowview, and Roberta Dobyns Davis of Abingdon; three grandchildren: Taulby Edmondson and wife Sheena of Blacksburg; Gage Davis; and Ethan Davis both of Abingdon; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
A funeral ceremony was held Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with the Rev. Michael Poole officiating. Interment was at Knollkreg Memorial Park.
