Ella Mae Dempsy, 70, of Bassett, died Monday, May 9, 2016, at the Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.
She was born in Patrick County on February 15, 1946 and was a daughter of the late Ernest Biggs and the late Annie Mae Adkins Biggs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Mize, her second husband, Arnold Dempsy; and a sister, Gertrude “Trudy” Biggs.
She was a member of the Northside Baptist Church and worked at Bassett Chair Company.
Surviving are three sons, Danny Mize, Randy Mize and Woody Mize; one daughter, Cindy Mize Price; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 12 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel where the funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Ron Peal officiating. Burial will follow in the Adams family cemetery.
