Mr. Elwood Harold Rorrer, age 77 of Stuart, Virginia passed away Friday, September 27, 2024, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Patrick County on July 14, 1947, to the late Harold Oakley Rorrer and Mozelle Chaney Rorrer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Rorrer Wood and Betty Rorrer Peal; one sister-in-law, Rodaliah “Sissie” Gilley Rorrer; and one brother-in-law, Danny Branch. He graduated from Woolwine High School in 1966 and worked at Blue Ridge Industrial Supply for over 32 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, taking care of his numerous farm animals for the past 15 years.
Mr. Rorrer is survived by his wife of 50 years Faye Branch Rorrer of the home; one daughter Wendy Rorrer Merriman (Chris) of Stuart; one brother, Larry W. Rorrer of Bassett; two sisters, Sue Rorrer Carter of Fieldale and Verna Rorrer Shepherd (Ernie) of Bassett; eight grandchildren, Christopher Norman (Morgan), Devin, Brooklyn, Carson, Summer, Amirah, Lennox, and Addilynn Merriman; two great grandchildren, Melania and Triton Norman; numerous Nieces, Nephews, Brothers and Sisters-In-Law.
Funeral services for Mr. Rorrer will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Moody Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rick Randall officiating. Burial will follow in the Branch Family Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday October 1, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home.
