The Patrick County Extension office will hold ServSafe™ Food Protection Manager Certification classes and exams this winter and spring.
Revised Virginia food regulations require that at least one employee with supervisory and management responsibility be a certified food protection manager through passing a test that is part of an accredited program. The deadline to receive this certification is July, 2018.
The ServSafe™ Food Protection Manager class is a two-day course that prepares participants to sit for the national exam. At the end of the second class, participants will take the proctored exam.
The next class will be held January 8 and 11. Additional class sections will be held in March, April and May. Participants who successfully pass the exam will be awarded a certificate that is valid for five years.
The cost for this class is $150 and includes the instructor-led classes, textbook, exam and certificate to those who attain a passing score. These trainings will be held in Stuart. Advanced registration and payment is required. Online registration is available at https://apps.cals.vt.edu/cgi-bin/WebObjects/ServSafe.woa/wa/schedule. Please contact Terri Alt, Family and Consumer Science Extension Agent at the Patrick County Extension office, at (276) 694-3341 for more information or to register.
