The Fairystone Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary met April 23rd at the fire station at 6:30 p.m.
President Doris Craig called the meeting to order. After the prayer requests were taken, Emma Adams led the group in prayer. Jessica Phillips gave the roll call with six members present and read the minutes of the last meeting. Treasurer Jane Layman read the treasurer’s report.
The auxiliary thanks everyone whom helped make the Country Breakfast on Saturday, April 27th a success. The next Country Breakfast will be on Saturday, May 18th from 6:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. The auxiliary hopes to see everyone there.
On Friday, April 12th, the Fairystone Volunteer Fire Department held the annual awards dinner for members and their guests. There were several awards given for 2018. The following ladies’ auxiliary members were recognized for perfect attendance: Emma Adams, Doris Craig, Jessica Phillips, and Betty Willard. The fireman of the year award went to Steve Peal. The first responder of the year award went to Travis Newman. The most dedicated fireman of the year award went to Terrance Barbour. The fire officer of the year award went to Jon D. Scott.
The Patrick County Fire & Rescue Association held its annual appreciation dinner for members and their guests on Saturday, April 27th at the Patrick County High School. The following awards were presented to Fairystone Volunteer Fire Department members for 2018: Adam Foley 3 years of service, William Sprowl Jr. 3 years of service, Billy Burgart 10 years of service, Jessica Bryant 20 years of service, Brian Phillips 20 years of service, Myra Thomas 25 years of service, and Doris Craig 40 years of service. Congratulations and thanks to all members on their dedication and service.
The ladies’ auxiliary enjoyed refreshments that were served by members with April birthdays.
