The Patrick County High School FFA attended the 93rd Virginia State FFA Convention held in Blacksburg on the campus of Virginia Tech June 17-20.
Those attending the convention were advisors Jonathon Wood and Wendell Terry, along with students Sara Caine, Briana Mabe, Bridgette Vipperman, and Candice Mabe.
While at the convention this year, students competed in the state Floriculture contest. In the state contest, students are responsible for being able to identify 120 different floriculture plants. They must take a 50-question general knowledge exam, and prepare a floral arrangement according to prescribed guidelines given to them at the contest.
This year’s PCHS Floriculture team placed 2nd in the state.
Candice Mabe was 10th high individual and Bridgette Vipperman was 4th high individual.
