There is a large contingent of Cougar football players hitting the field every afternoon at Patrick County High School. According to Coach David Morrison, the team consists of 11 seniors, 11 juniors, 12 sophomores and 16 freshmen.
“We have a chance to be a good football team, but it is going to require a great deal of effort and a lot of grit and determination on the part of our guys,” Morrison explained after just one week of practice.
“We want to be a highly competitive football team and make our fans proud,” he added.
Saturday, August 10, the Cougars travel to East Montgomery High to play the host team and Grayson County. Next Saturday, August 19, the Cougars will travel to Riverheads High School to scrimmage Amelia County and Grayson County
The first home game will be August 25 against Carroll County.
“This could be a very competitive season with the potential for breakout performances by the team as well as several of our Cougar athletes individually.,” Morrison said.
Assisting Morrison this season will be Lewis Carroll, Mike Cooper, Robert Cunningham, Brian Hubbard, Tony Mosley, Justin Bowles and Oscar Tejeda.
