Fire crews responding to a structure fire around 1 p.m. on Friday contained the fire to just two rooms, according to reports from the scene.
Several fire crews were summoned to a structure fire at 3364 Dogwood Road, near Hardin Reynolds Memorial School, in Critz.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a two story wood frame home with visible flames on the right exterior of the home. Firefighters formed two attack lines to fight the blaze: one at the exterior of one corner and the other to attack the blaze in a second floor bedroom, working quickly to keep the fire from extending into the attic.
There were no injuries during the incident.
The Red Cross was called to assist the family of four, which included man, 44; two women, one aged 34 and the other in her 80s and a 12 year–old.
The Patrick County Sheriff’s Office maintained traffic control while fire trucks were in the roadway; Units responding included Company 23 with Engine 23 and Tanker 23; Company 26 with Engine 26-12 and Ladder 1; Company 14 with Engine 14-10 and Tanker 14; Station 8 (Patrick County Fire and EMS) with Medic 8-10; Station 3 (Jeb Stuart Rescue), with Medic 3-11.
